The story of Bloom began in a womb. After six years in cosmetics recruitment for agencies, Sophia decided to shake things up – right in the middle of a pandemic whilst expecting her baby. Sheer madness? Perhaps. But from this bold move, Bloom was born.

Sophia Metcalfe
Founder
I founded Bloom to create more freedom to do things my own way. My experience working in recruitment agencies with a high-pressure sales environment made me realise how important it is to treat people’s careers with care and respect. The typical “pushy” approach just didn’t align with my values, especially when it comes to people’s livelihoods. Consequently, launching the business has allowed me to create more meaningful connections with clients and candidates.
Parenthood has deepened my understanding of the challenges faced by working parents. I am proud to recruit in an industry which excels in DEI and flexibility for parents striving for balance.
My earliest memories of beauty trace back to watching my mum host Body Shop parties in the ’90s. Seeing how a touch of makeup or a hint of fragrance could transform her customers’ moods was captivating, and from that moment, I was hooked.
My personal experiences have made me deeply passionate about social mobility. Outside of work, I mentor students from underrepresented ethnic and social backgrounds.
I am optimistic about Bloom’s future, and I look forward to continuing to grow whilst staying true to the values that inspired me to start.

With over a decade of experience in recruitment, my passion for connecting people with the right opportunities has only grown stronger. My journey in this field has been incredibly rewarding, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything else.
I draw inspiration from my love of nature, animals, and beauty, which influences both my professional and personal life.
A few years ago, I moved to the coast to immerse myself more fully in the natural world, which brought a renewed sense of balance. In my free time, I craft my own aromatherapy lip balms and anti-aging products, combining sustainability, wellness, and beauty.
I am thrilled to bring my passion for recruitment and my dedication to sustainability together in my role at our beauty and wellness recruitment firm.
